The company was about to embark on a growth programme, and needed guidance on strategy. The CEO invited me to be a Non-Executive Director. My focus was on driving the development of a business plan, and giving direction to marketing and sales. I acted as chair of the Board and gave close support and coaching to the CEO. A solid business plan was put in place, and the management of the company moved to a more professional footing.

Surepass trains driving instructors and then operates a franchise for each of them. The business was without a business plan, and needed to attract and retain more driving instructors. Together with the senior managers, we examined the business operations and created a business plan. In so doing, I gave strong advice on better use of their brand, and helped them to focus on what really mattered to grow the business. As well as achieving the initial goals of increasing driving instructor and franchise numbers, we increased profits.
