This morning, I was in Bury, north of Manchester, talking to a breakfast networking group. The subject was ‘How Good Is My Marketing Plan?’.
I opened by asking how many people were responsible for marketing in their company. About eight people out of the forty present put their hands up.
Then I asked who else ‘actively marketed their company’. Only two hands went up.
Isn’t that interesting? More than two dozen people invested their time at an early morning event, but didn’t think that their informal presentation of what they do, in conversation with other attendees, was marketing.
Every time we talk about what we do, we’re doing marketing. So some of the things I talked about this morning – such as developing your value proposition, are relevant to everyone, not just the people with ‘marketing’ in their job title.
This Morning’s Presentation
These are the slides I used this morning, which may jog the memory of anyone who attended.
