If You’re In Business, Who Or What Inspires You?

While talking about marketing to a group of business people recently, I included the story of Ernest Shackleton’s leadership in the Antarctic.

You might think that’s an odd juxtaposition. But I wanted to talk about the role of marketing in providing leadership in adverse economic conditions, and I thought it would be interesting to look at how people deal with really tough conditions of another kind. And I can’t think of tougher conditions and challenges to leadership than that Shackleton expedition.

I find inspiration in all sorts of places (including David Hockney’s painting, for example) and I’m curious: where do you find inspiration in your business life?
